The preaching isn't my thing and the worship music isn't either.
Crossroads leaders are changing their church "mission statement" to make the church more comfortable to the unsaved. This decision isn't supported in Scripture. The place is overrun. 1st Timothy 4:1, 2nd Corinthians 11.
UPDATE August 2014.
Using KJV quotes is rare at Crossroads (cccgo), instead they barely use scripture but when they do they mainly use corrupted versions such as ESV, NIV and others which are translations of "Vatican" picked manuscripts that do not correspond to the majority of manuscripts to translate from. The corrupt Vatican influenced translations make Jesus sound like He lied to his brothers when they asked Him if He would go up to Jerusalem (John chapter 7:8-10). Jesus had to remain sinless to be a perfect sacrifice for our sins. Interesting that the modern translations want to make Jesus out to be a sinner / liar when they translate from Vatican picked manuscripts. Stick with the KJV.
I'm a little biased when writing this because this is my church home. The sermon's during service are always bible based and are very relate-able to those who hear the message. Crossroads has gone to great lengths to make sure that the congregation is cared for and welcomed before, during and after services.
Wonderful church. Great music. Really good message. You can feel the love.
Many musicians say they sold their soul to Satan down at the Crossroads. Don't let your guard down at any "church." Reverence & respect for teaching & presenting scripture has declined over the years to say the least. They just make comments, tell stories, personal and otherwise, throw in a verse now & then. They want to look & talk like the other fallen away "churches." It's clear they are examining other things than scripture to know how "to do" church. It's also telling what their former lead pastor is doing now after he left this place.
The leadership of Crossroads think they aren't a lukewarm church. For they often "say" they emphasize preaching from the Bible. In practice however, I question that emphasis. Especially considering the pastor warned then apologized during his sermon on May 18, 2014 that he would be using a lot of scripture in the last half of his sermon. I think he read 7 verses (SHOCKING! daring to quickly quote scripture in a sermon.) Considering the sermon topic, he should have knocked the sermon out of the park, so to speak. In my opinion, the sermon was a poor bunt. This is typical of the sermons here (2 Timothy 4:3)
The ESV along with many others take the word "YET" out of scripture. This is only one of 1,000's of subtle twists in these translations. Compare John chapter 7 (KJV) to modern versions in the seats at whatever "church" you attend and you'll be shocked. Also: compare Luke 23:42, 1 Cor. 1:18, Mark 10:24, Acts 3:26 to KJV. Once you figure this out you will want to to demand the teachers stop using them.
UPDATE 2014
Unfriendly to people not in their idea of a perfect Christian. Not sure if they’ve changed their point of veiw on this but when my kid was in third grade they had a bible camp hosted by the church. This just so happened to be the week that gay marriage was legalized in Indiana, so they decided to take time out of their normal sermon to preach to the third through fifth graders about the “evils of homosexuality” and that we should pray for homosexuals because if they don’t change their ways they will burn in Hell.
