I took my 3 girls here for the first time. We went in and everything was fine until the dentist saw that I have a service dog to assist me. I was told I couldn't go back with my kids (but other parents were allowed). My girls were going to be in a regular exam bay - not in any surgically sterile areas, so health risk to any other patient is no higher than if it's just people in the area. I tried to educate them on what a service dog is, what the laws are, and that this was discrimination under the ADA 1990 (federal law). I also let them know that assisting in service dog training was part of my profession, so I was very educated on the law, as well as what areas my dog is and is not allowed in. I also gave them a business card with information on the law written on it, as well as the government website that would explain what their obligations and rights are. Their response was that their insurance company wouldn't cover them if they allowed service dogs into their office, but they also told me they had treated kids with service dogs before - they just weren't going to allow mine because the service dog is for me, not my child, and that was their preference. It was really a poor excuse, and they had no real desire to be educated on the subject or do the right thing again in the future. They let me know until they had a clear statement from their insurance company that they wouldn't allow my service dog to accompany me there.
Love Dr. Travis and all his staff! Everyone there is friendly and welcoming. They know my kids as soon as we walk in the door. My kids are completely comfortable there. Have been seeing Dr. Travis for nine years and will continue to do so! He is never quick to do unnecessary work, and I really appreciate that as a parent. Can't say enough good things about this office!
We'll be looking around for another dentist.
Dr. Travis was my dentist as a child and really helped me overcome my fear of the dentist. I enjoy wonderful oral health today, and it is all because of the great start he gave me years ago. He makes the appointment fun for kids of all ages. I would recommend this office to any parent!!
A good beginning in dental health can make all the difference in a child's life. Their first experiences at the dentist will shape their entire approach to oral care. A child that is unafraid of the dentist will be more likely to have a healthy mouth as an adult, and Dr. Travis and Dr. Brummer know how to make those first dental experiences positive!
Dr. Brummer is truly the best. He is kind, compassionate, and very knowledgeable. All the wonderful staff at the office make children feel comfortable and welcome. They are the best children's dental office around. We wouldn't go anywhere else.
